Close fight! Obama at 49%, Romney 46% just 9 days before election: Reuters/Ipsos poll

My comments:

It seems the social media and even lots of the more liberal-leaning traditional media in the United States seem to be favoring incumbent U.S. President Barack Obama. However, I believe the still underdog but dogged challenger ex-Governor Mitt Romney is surging and has a fighting chance to pull off a possible upset victory?

This is one of the most exciting presidential elections I have ever!

I'm betting a hundred pizzas that former successful businessman Mitt Romney will win! Wanna bet?

Below is the latest opinion poll in USA indicating it's still too close to call:

Sun, Oct 28 2012

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama has extended his narrow lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney among likely voters in a race that remains statistically tied nine days before the election, according to a Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll released on Sunday.

Obama has a 49 percent to 46 percent edge over Romney, marking a 1 point increase from Saturday but still within the daily online survey's 4 percentage-point credibility interval for likely voters.

Swings could be possible in the remaining days of the campaign, however. Fifteen percent of registered voters say they could still change their minds and vote for a different candidate.

The precision of Reuters/Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll has a credibility interval of plus or minus 4.0 percentage points for likely voters.

British government scholarships! Applications for 2013 Chevening Scholarships now open
Since one of the advocacies of our advocacies is education, we are happy to share this wonderful opportunity, thanks to the British Embassy in Manila, the Philippines...
October 29, 2012
Applications for Chevening Scholarships, the prestigious global scholarship programme of the UK government, are open starting Monday, 29 October.
The Chevening programme provides a unique opportunity for leaders of the future to build a global network of continuing professional significance. It enables talented individuals to establish social, cultural, academic or commercial partnerships with the UK. With its new global website, the Chevening Scholarships are expected to be more accessible than ever before.
“Chevening Scholarships are for talented people who have been identified as potential leaders across a wide range of fields, including politics, business, finance, climate change and energy, the media, civil society and academia,” said British Ambassador Stephen Lillie, during the official launching of the programme here in Manila last week.
Aspirants from the Philippines may access the online application forms at the new Chevening website www.chevening.org and submit their applications from 29 October until 2 January 2013.
Meanwhile, the British Embassy announced that it is seeking partnerships with the private sector to maximise the Chevening Programme here in the Philippines.
“In 2012 we were able to expand the number of scholarships through a new partnership with Cambridge University.  Looking to 2013, I would like us to be able to forge additional partnerships, which will allow us to increase the number of Chevening Scholars whom we are able to fund,” Lillie added.
The British Embassy is already in talks with British pharmaceutical firm GlaxoSmithKline and several other companies on providing supplementary funding for the Chevening Programme to boost the number of scholars from the Philippines.
Lillie underscored the importance of educational links in strengthening Philippine-British relations. “British Alumni are in fact a very visible expression of the friendship between our two countries. They have studied at a diverse range of institutions across a wide range of disciplines.
The growing number of excellent young achievers, returning from the UK to the Philippines gives me confidence that the UK-Philippine relationship will continue to go from strength to strength. 2012 has been a great year for our bilateral relations, but I believe the best days for the Philippines and UK relationship lie ahead,” he concluded.
First established in 1983, the Chevening Scholarships, which are funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, operate in over 100 countries worldwide, and this year will support about 700 students. The Scholarships are awarded to exceptional individuals with leadership potential. Awards are typically for a one-year Master’s degree, in any subject and at any UK university.
Scholars are personally selected by British High Commissions and British Embassies throughout the world, sometimes in partnership with sponsoring organisations.
Chevening alumni have an excellent record of rising to positions of leadership across a wide range of fields: including politics, business, the media, civil society, religion, and academia.
Some work as MPs, leading journalists, or policy advisers to NGOs and think tanks; others occupy senior positions in commercial organisations.
Priority subject areas vary from country to country and applicants should check the country pages of www.chevening.org before submitting an application for a Chevening Scholarship.

More USA newspapers endorsing Mitt Romney? This report from New York Times. Exciting & close election! Vote Romney

My comments:

I came across this feature in the newspaper New York Times just now, and I'm impressed that this report shows more former supporters of Obama in the 2008 presidential election have now switched their support for businessman and former Governor Mitt Romney.

The reason I personally favor Mitt Romney? I'm concerned about the ailing USA economy and I really believe Romney is much more capable to turn around the economy.

Here's the New York Times feature below:

The presidential endorsements of the nation’s largest papers are starting to trickle in. Not surprisingly, most editorial boards supported the same party in 2012 as they had in 2008. But there were some notable exceptions.

The Choice

The choice is clear. The Romney-Ryan ticket represents a constricted and backward-looking vision of America: the privatization of the public good. In contrast, the sort of public investment championed by Obama—and exemplified by both the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Affordable Care Act—takes to heart the old civil-rights motto “Lifting as we climb.” That effort cannot, by itself, reverse the rise of inequality that has been under way for at least three decades. But we’ve already seen the future that Romney represents, and it doesn’t work. | Read Full Endorsement »

Obama for President

Voters face a momentous choice in November between two candidates offering sharply different prescriptions for what ails the country. Obama's recalls the successful formula of the 1990s, when the government raised taxes and slowed spending to close the deficit. Gremlins or demonic possession? Poltergeist hitting Drones of USA military in Africa? HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Since it's almost Halloween, I'm sharing with you this interesting piece below written by Hamilton Nolan in Gawker.com, about so-called "poltergeist" hitting the drones of the American military... Is this TRUE? :)

By the way, the newspaper Washington Post just now tweeted this: "Around the clock, about 16 times a day, a drone takes off or lands at a U.S. military base in Djibouti."

For your information, the former French colony of Djibouti is a Muslim nation in the Horn of Africa, near Somalia, Ethiopia and the Red Sea.

Additional information: An unmanned combat air vehicle or combat drone or simply "drone" is an unmanned aerial vehicle that is armed and has no onboard human pilot. Currently operational drones are under real-time human control.

Since it's almost Halloween, I'm sharing with you this interesting piece by Hamilton Nolan from Gawker, about so-called "poltergeist" hitting the drones...

Predator Drones Are Doing All Types of Crazy Poltergeist Shit

Has America's fleet of deadly Predator drones been infected by some sort of anti-imperialist poltergeist force? That seems to be the only logical conclusion from today's Washington Post story (the last in an excellent series on America's "Secret War") about the activities and happenings at the US drone base in Djibouti.

There's this:
In March 2011, a Predator parked at the camp started its engine without any human direction, even though the ignition had been turned off and the fuel lines closed. Technicians concluded that a software bug had infected the "brains" of the drone, but never pinpointed the problem.
And this:
But as the drone descended toward Djibouti City it entered a low-hanging cloud that obscured its camera sensor. Making matters worse, the GPS malfunctioned and gave incorrect altitude readings.

The crew operating the drone... crashed the remote-controlled plane 2.7 miles short of the runway.

The site was in a residential area and fire trucks rushed to the scene. The drone had crashed in a vacant lot and its single Hellfire missile had not detonated.
So Predator drones may start up OR crash due to mysterious malfunction but that's not something we can talk about anyhow. What Predator drones? Hey, look over there. *You are killed by a Hellfire missile.*
